Winter has passed and the carefree days of summer are here. This is a great season to change up the pace and tackle a few things that don’t get done at any other time. A garage cleaning may be just the project the family needs to check the safety of their storage, rediscover all the long lost summer gear and get organized.
Get the whole family involved surveying the garage to determine what kinds of storage and organization equipment you need to make the redo safe and successful. Consider the changes that need to be made such as, making sure dangerous chemicals are properly sealed and not stored next to each other. Be certain that gas, propane and paint are not stashed near the water heater. If there is a concern with shelving, a mesh guard can be installed to keep items from falling off shelves and mixing together.
Next, remove everything from the garage placing like items in separate piles. Give the garage a thorough sweep down removing any dangerous nails or screws that may be sticking out. Designate areas of the garage for sports/toys, tools, storage tubs, etc. This is a good time to set aside and properly dispose of all hazardous waste products. As things are placed in their new tubs, racks and shelves, take into account whether the garage door or opener are in need of repairs. The pros at Garage Door Excellence are happy to make repairs which should complete the family garage project.Written By: Nic Koff
